  • Partner/Business Manager

Suz has been a resident of Ashland since 1999. After a 30 year career in investment research, she retired in 2016. Since then, she has been dedicated to volunteer work, her family and friends, and an occasional round of golf. She saw an opportunity to serve the community further by starting YogaTown of Ashland. She looks forward to bettering herself, and the community through the practice of yoga.

  • Partner/Yoga Teacher

    RYT 2016

After many years of running/jogging, biking and backpacking, Ingrid felt very stiff and sore. In the 1990s, she was introduced to the practice of yoga to battle the effects of these activities.

Yoga started as a means for Ingrid to enjoy these activities, but soon yoga became a passion itself; not only the asana practice, but the yoga tradition and spirituality. Seeing the many health and wellness benefits of practicing in herself, she decided to teach others. She began yoga teacher training through the Yoga Fit program in 2013 and became a certified 200 RYT in 2016.

Ingrid believes yoga is for everyone and should be practiced with a light heart, and often some laughter. She teaches to all levels, fosters safe and peaceful practices, and creates a welcoming environment in every class.

  • Becky McDaniel has been teaching yoga since 2003 in studios, schools, and churches throughout Virginia.

A former studio owner (Body Balance Studio, Williamsburg and In Balance Yoga, Blacksburg), she has trained and certified yoga teachers and particularly loves introducing the practice to beginners.

Becky serves as an Episcopal priest and embraces contemplative practices in her ministry.

  • Emily is a Holistic Psychotherapist and Trauma-Informed RYT200. She specializes in supporting individuals and groups through mindful meditation and intentional breathwork.

Emily has lived in Ashland since October 2020 with her family. She enjoys all things outdoors. You may even catch her riding her Harley around town.

  • Kristin provides students with a Hatha type yoga practice that incorporates social emotional learning and mindfulness. She loves to offer her students a long savasana.

As a Breathe For Change Yoga instructor, she brings you opportunities to explore self awareness and awareness of others. Kristin is also a certified life coach and an experiential practitioner ('learning by doing'). She also has several certifications in equine assisted work specializing in personal and professional development.

From 2016-2020, Kristin helped many clients thru their healing journeys during her time at Checkpoint One (a non-profit that she co-founded bringing stress management, yoga, mindfulness, and mental health services to first responders and Veterans).

Kristin is trauma informed and experienced in working with recovery groups.

  • McKenzie has been a Hanover County resident for almost 20 years. She and her husband are raising 3 boys and a sweet labrador named Lola.

McKenzie enjoys staying active, cooking, decorating, traveling, serving in the community and eating all the good food.

McKenzie began teaching yoga in 2019. Her love affair with Yoga began over a decade ago. She has completed two 200 hour teacher trainings and immersed herself into workshops + continuing education courses across the country.

Yoga has had such a transformational impact on McKenzie's life, she felt led to teach others how to be in tune with their minds and bodies. Her teaching style incorporates a swift pace with a wide open playlist. She’ll take you in all directions, exploring the spaces around and within. Come ready to dive deep and have fun.

  • Yoga Teacher

    RYT 2003

Wendy is a wife, mother of 2, stepmother to 4, and Mimi to 1.

Her first yoga class was with Jennifer Smith. She felt like she was at home and at peace with herself for the first time in a long time.

She entered initial yoga teacher training with Jennifer Elliott and Sandra Pleasants in 2003. Wendy has been blessed to share space with great teachers to include: Dharma Mittra, Baron Baptiste, Bryan Kest and Seane Corn.

She has taught locally as a partner in Ashland Yoga Ltd, Yoga for Equestrians at Diane Hale’s Dance Studio, and Yoga for golfers at Hanover Country Club. She has taught for superclub resorts in Jamaica. Her yin certification is from Garundasana Yoga School at William & Mary.

Over the years, Wendy has been teaching for Patrick Henry YMCA, American Family fitness and Avery Point senior living.

Wendy is a a big believer in “form follows function,” anatomy of movement, alignment, breath work, connecting to source and allowing yourself to just be. She enjoys adding new practices to her yoga tool kit and is currently working on sound healing practices and certification.

Wendy enjoys teaching hot vinyasa, vinyasa, yin, chair, hatha, and yoga nidra. She is grateful to be with these amazing teachers and looks forward to seeing you on the mat!

  • RYT - 2011

A lifelong lover of dance and movement, Clair believes the body is brilliantly engineered and incredibly intelligent. She danced from the age of three through college. In the early 90’s she remembers riding her bike to her first yoga class in the fan. Later, Clair came across teacher, Wendy Phillips who facilitated one of her most memorable yoga experiences, challenging yet gentle, inspired yet patient.

A wife and mother to three, Clair received her yoga teacher certification from the Iyengar-based YogaWorks program in 2011. Since then, she has taught private sessions, at the Goochland YMCA and in the corporate wellness arena where she also delivered a variety of health and wellness workshops. She is a professionally trained Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher and a three-time Ironman Finisher.

Clair believes if we point our bodies in the right direction with proper alignment, we get 100% benefit from any yoga pose. She is passionate about sharing yoga on and off the mat and finding creative language to make yoga appealing to all. She enjoys teaching all levels of hatha yoga with movement /vinyasa and stillness/presence.
